Two reasons why Sam Reeves enjoys being apart of JM Drama's Evita

Two reasons why Sam Reeves enjoys being apart of JM Drama's Evita!"1.Get ready for some music theory nerddom (I have probably lost any readers of this anecdote), but why I love working on Evita is the music. At first I was tentative of auditioning for this show because I only knew "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", and I don't really love that song. I decided to listen to the album – and it hit me, this was a musically rich show. From the opening dissonance of a Catholic requiem, to the bossa nova groove of Buenos Aires, the somewhat hard "where the bloody hell am I?" of On the Balcony of Casa Rosada, and a musical medley that implements polytonality (a composition technique not used often in music outside of hip modernist classical composers), finishing with a choral song so beautifully composed it'll make the hardest of hearts shed a tear. Every time something musically hard or weird would happen I would turn to my cast mate Bilal, or he would turn and say "gee, thanks Andrew Lloyd Weber" in a slightly sardonic way. Well… Thanks Andrew Lloyd Weber!2.I love a good sitzprobe (to the uninitiated this is the part of the musical when you finally have the band and actors perform together, usually a week before the show… yeah a great idea)! It's the moment that really shows whether your show will sink or swim – if your cast knows the music well enough that you can perform it in a totally new situation while avoiding dozens of possibly discordant variables and musical hazards. Of the past three sitzprobes I have done (KWMP's Titanic, KWLT's BatBoy the Musical, and this), all which I have loved doing dearly, I feel that Evita's has been the most smooth – at least in the sense that I had a riot of a time doing it!"
